Khan Education & Human Services Foundation Inc, widely known as Khan Foundation, trade mark KEHSF, Bangladesh, is a Not-for-Profit, ‘tax-exempt’ charitable organization. It carries the US Federal Tax ID # 93-3686282 and is registered in New York State. The KEHSF, Bangladesh has been working in one site of its target locality, in Noakhali, Bangladesh since 2017. The focus had been and still is to open educational and skills training opportunities to millions of inhabitants of the floodplains (called Char) of the Greater Noakhali District (comprised of current Lakshmipur, Noakhali & Feni districts) located to the southern part of Bangladesh.
The Founder of the organization, Dr. Showkat H. Khan, even though lived in USA more than 40 years, traces a sentimental attachment to the Char people, some of them are his relatives and some others are acquaintances. These people were placed in the cycle/tornado-infested Char areas in a plot of 2.5 acres of land in 1950s and 1960s and later. They struggled to live in there and even gave life over the years, and now are destitute. They used up their 2.5 acres land to build the homestead for their descendants. Help is urgently needed for these people to break the cycle of poverty through education and skills training.
